About Naomi

The very first piece of writing Naomi ever published in a magazine was on Songkran, the water festival marking Thailand's New Year - and the second was on South Korea's infamous Boryeong Mud Festival. From these elemental beginnings, she embarked on a career in journalism in 2008. She still loves experiencing the world through a travel writer's lens from her home base in New Zealand's South Island - particularly if it involves any outdoor activity. Some of her favorite experiences have been a traditional charcoal sauna in Wonju, South Korea; camping in far northern Western Australia; reporting on the Vancouver Winter Olympics and thigh-burning ski runs at Whistler/Blackcomb; quiet evenings cycling Tokyo's back streets; and the three months she spent at Scott Base in Antarctica. In the summer of 2023/4, Naomi will be walking the length of New Zealand on Te Araroa.
