The highlight at this attractive rural park on the west bank of the Missouri is On-a-Slant Indian Village, which has five re-created Mandan earth lodges. The fort, with several replica buildings, was Custer's last stop before the Battle of Little Bighorn. It's 7 miles south of Mandan (or about 13 miles from downtown Bismarck). It has extensive hiking trails and summertime tours.
