Dimly lit and atmospheric, this bar and restaurant occupies a former family home, with outdoor seating on the porch and an inventive menu. The owners are committed to using local suppliers, including sheep and laying hens from their own farm. Hand-reared farm animals and organic produce don't come cheap, however; prices are on the high side.

With a mean cocktail menu (served with locally grown garnishes, of course) and an excellent wine and beer list, the Prairie Whale is also one of the best places in town for a drink.
