Mitten occupies a beautiful brick Victorian-era fire station. Locals chitchat at knotty wood tables in the warm, pub-like interior. Vintage baseball memorabilia adorns the walls. Around 18 beers flow from the taps, from pale ales to cream ales, brown ales and stouts. Six-beer samplers (with 5oz pours costing $1 to $3 each) arrive in a nifty Michigan-shaped wood board.
The Triple Crown Brown Ale is Mitten's most ballyhooed brew. Check out the 'high gravity' offerings, aka specialty beers that'll wallop the head. Mitten is also beloved for its pizzas with thin, bubbled crust.
