City Market

Indianapolis

A smattering of food stalls fill the city's old marketplace, which dates from 1886. The 2nd-floor bar (open 2pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday and noon to 9pm Friday and Saturday) pours 19 local brews; most other vendors close by 3pm.

Below ground, catacombs dating to 1886 lurk unbeknownst to most. You can take a tour ($12) on the first and third Saturdays of the month between May and October half-hourly between 10am and 12:30pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.catacombs2019.eventbrite.com.
