Hatuniye Medresesi

Mardin

This medrese (seminary) was built in the 12th century. The complex includes a mosque, with an intricate stone-cut mihrab (niche indicating the direction of Mecca) and the domed tomb of Artuklu Sultan Kutbettin Ä°lgazi and his mother Sitti Radviyye. A small box in the wall contains a footprint said to belong to the Prophet Mohammed.
