The Old Forge is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as Britain’s most remote pub. It’s surprisingly sophisticated – as well as having real ale on tap, there’s an Italian coffee machine. Food is served 12.30pm to 2.30pm and 6.30pm to 9.30pm; the house special is a seafood platter (£38); all ingredients are sourced within 7 miles of the pub.
In the evening you can sit by the fire, pint of beer in hand and join the impromptu ceilidh (an evening of traditional Scottish entertainment including music, song and dance) that seems to take place just about nightly.
