Local villagers mine salt here using traditional methods that have been in use for generations, pulling buckets of mineral-rich water from wells up to 20m deep and pouring them into evaporating pans in which salt crystals slowly form. The mines are along the road between Marigha and Tinzert villages, around 3km southeast of the highway.
