Grotta di San Michele

Northwestern Sardinia

To the south of the town centre, this small cave complex was inhabited by nuraghic people, who also used it as a tomb and place of cult worship. Excavations in 1914 and then 1949 unearthed pottery, vases and figurines, many of which are now on display at the Museo Nazionale Sanna in Sassari.
