Cathedral of Christ the King

The Midlands

Mullingar's most distinctive landmark is this colossal twin-towered cathedral, commenced in 1933 and consecrated on the eve of WWII. Its large mosaics of St Anne and St Patrick were designed by Russian artist Boris Anrep, whose mosaics can also be found in Westminster Cathedral in London.
