Taman Suropati

Jakarta

A village green surrounded by mansions, this area is a preservation zone for the colonial bungalows. Many really qualify as mansions and have the art-deco touches that flourished in Java in the 1920s. The park itself is a surprising patch of greenery among the traffic. It is dotted with modem statuary that's been gifted by other Asian governments. There's also a dovecote and lots of roaming cats among the art pieces.
