St Andrew's Church

Chennai (Madras)

This 1821 neoclassical Scottish Presbyterian church is one of India's most exquisite churches, rising up in leafy grounds in the middle of frenzied Egmore. Inspired by London's St Martin-in-the-Fields church, it has a grand columned portico. Inside is and unusual oval colonnade under a domed ceiling supported by Corinthian columns, above which towers a slim multilevel spire.
