Templo VI is one of the few temples at Tikal to bear written records. On the rear of its 12m-high roofcomb is a long inscription 鈥 though it will take some effort to discern it in the bright sunlight 鈥 giving us the date AD 766. The sides and cornice of the roofcomb bear glyphs as well.
Its secluded position, about a 25-minute walk southeast of the Gran Plaza along the Calzada M茅ndez, makes it a good spot for observing wildlife. From here, it's a 20-minute hike back to the main entrance.
