Deutsches Bergbau-Museum

This hugely popular museum will remain closed until 2020 while getting a much needed refurb and completely updated permanent exhibition. It's still worth visiting, though, for a chance to descend into the earth's belly for a spin around a demonstration mine and to ride the lift up the landmark winding tower for commanding views.
