Holst Birthplace Museum

Oxford & the Cotswolds

Composer Gustav Holst was born in Cheltenham in 1874, and the rooms of his childhood home are laid out in typical period fashion. Spread across four floors, they feature many of his personal possessions, including the piano on which he composed most of his orchestral suite The Planets, as well as rare photos of the notoriously camera-shy Holst himself.
