Adventurers who like their lodgings whimsical will love these five open-air casitas, including a literal ‘tree house’ and the Casa Cristal two-storey cabin built around a living sangrillo tree, complete with a mini-golf course around the trunk. All have kitchens, BBQs, spacious decks with easy chairs and hammocks, and private paths leading to a small white-sand beach.
Houses sleep up to five and have mosquito nets; five have Jacuzzis.
The owner is a founder of the Iguana Verde Foundation, an effort to save the endangered green iguana. There's a huge breeding area on the grounds (Jurassic Park, anyone?) and informational tours are available (US$15).
