Cine Tonalá

Top choice in µþ´Ç²µ´Ç³Ùá

µþ´Ç²µ´Ç³Ùá's only independent cinema champions Latin and Colombian films and international cult classics, but this Mexico City import refuses to be categorized. The multifaceted cultural center, set in a renovated 1930s La Merced mansion, is a shelter for artistic refugees, who retreat here for a very hip bar scene, excellent Mexican food and rousing club nights from Thursday to Saturday.

The red-brick, bay-windowed facade looks more like an old English manor house than a Latin American cinema. Inside, it's more pub-like, with parquet floors and lashings of Stanley Kubrick memorabilia.
