This elegant 1922 neoclassical building served as the office of a British shipping company before being occupied by the Japanese during WWII and serving as an interim German consulate (directly opposite the British embassy at No 27). Following the war it was briefly the US consulate before becoming the headquarters for Shanghai People's radio station during the Cultural Revolution. Today it's the office for Shanghai Clearing House.
