This was the summer estate of William Lyon Mackenzie King, who was Canada’s prime minister for more than 20 years in the 1920s, late 1930s and early 1940s, making him the country's long-serving PM. A capable speaker, quirky King was known for his gregarious nature; he even talked to his dead dog and deceased mother. His home, Moorside, is now a museum with a pleasant tearoom.
